• What you give us: your name, email address, phone number, travel interests, and the notes and details you share with us so we can design your itinerary.
• What your account holds: your name, your email address, and your password, which we never store as such but as an encrypted fingerprint that lets us verify it without knowing it.
• Your trip: the dates, places and activities in the itinerary, along with the email addresses of anyone you choose to share it with.
• What is recorded on its own: each time you sign in we store the IP address and the browser you came from, so we can spot access you don't recognise.

We use your information to design your itinerary, show you your trip in the app, stay in touch with you before and during the trip, and charge and account for our fees. We also keep it where Japanese law requires us to, for accounting and tax purposes. We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

We share only what is needed, and only with the companies that provide us a service:

• Stripe, which processes card payments. We never see or store your card number.
• Resend, which delivers the emails we send you from the app.
• DigitalOcean, where our server is hosted.
• Google, where we prepare and share your itinerary documents with you and where we keep the calendar of your bookings.
• Meta (WhatsApp), if you choose to write to us on that channel.
• The travel providers (hotels, guides, restaurants) you ask us to contact on your behalf.

These companies operate outside Japan, so your data is transferred abroad. Beyond these cases we give your information to no one, unless the law requires it.

We use a single cookie: the one that keeps your session open after you sign in. It is signed, travels only over HTTPS, and is not readable from JavaScript. We use no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party cookies. There is no tracker on this site.

The site runs entirely over HTTPS, and the database and files live on our own private server rather than a third-party service. Only our agents can reach trip information, and every change is recorded with its date and the person who made it.

We keep your information for as long as our relationship lasts, so we can help you again if you travel with us a second time, and we delete it when you ask us to. The one exception is billing records, which Japanese law requires us to keep for seven years.

You can ask us for a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, or ask us to stop using it. Write to info@japonindigo.com and we'll reply within two weeks.

We don't collect children's data directly: the person who engages us and shares the travellers' details with us is an adult.

If we update this policy, we change the date shown at the top of the page.
